XOS 5.8.0 Release Notes

Release Notes are based on the final Danish release notes for XOS 5.8.0.8904 (25.08.2025), with a few additional clarifications.

UPDATE: A few owners have received XOS 5.8.0.8905 — a manually installed variant applied when the vehicle’s T-Box hardware module has been replaced during service. The only difference is added support for the new hardware.

XPILOT ASSIST

Human–Machine Co-Driving

  • Improvement: Lane Centering Control (LCC) upgraded for more flexible co-driving: drivers can make moderate steering inputs while LCC remains active, enabling smoother cooperation without having to disable LCC. This reduces system torque resistance and improves control, especially in curves.
  • Works with the CoPilot function up to approx. 85 km/h, after which traditional LCC logic takes over.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

  • Improvement: XPILOT ASSIST allows higher cornering speeds when ACC is active.
  • Improvement: Increased deceleration performance of ACC. Braking feels smoother when coming to a stop or when slower vehicles are detected ahead.

Lane Centering Control (LCC)

  • Improvement: Better performance in specific scenarios such as merges, exits, branches and intersections. The steering wheel will vibrate less frequently during these transitions.
  • Note: Always keep your hands on the steering wheel – also when using LCC.

AI Bodyguard

Dashcam (Driving Recorder) – The vehicle’s surroundings during driving are recorded continuously to help protect your vehicle.

  • New: Automatically records while driving.
    • Recording can be set to “Front” or “Front + 360° view”, capturing scenes in all directions.
    • Emergency recording: when a high-risk collision event is detected, the relevant clips are locked and permanently saved under 「Dashcam」 – 「Emergency」 in 「Recordings」, so you can review and export them later.
    • Manual emergency trigger: available from the XDOCK area or the task bar on the touchscreen.
    • Note: Always follow local laws and regulations when using the driving recorder.
    • Check recordings: go to 「App Center」 – 「Recordings」 – 「Dashcam」.
    • Send video to phone: select a clip and tap 「Send to phone」. Follow the prompts to connect your phone to the vehicle hotspot, then confirm in the XPENG App to save to the phone’s album. No infotainment data is consumed during transfer. This is done from the in-vehicle 「Recordings」 app.

    • Earlier beta notes stated availability in Europe except Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland and Austria.

AI Cabin

Pet Mode

  • New: When Pet Mode is enabled, you can briefly leave your pet inside a locked vehicle.
    • With Pet Mode active, windows lock automatically while A/C runs in AUTO with external circulation enabled. If anything unusual occurs, the XPENG App notifies you. You can also toggle Pet Mode remotely in the app.
    • Access path: 「Settings」 – 「Vehicle」 – 「Vehicle Modes」 – 「Pet Mode」
    • In the mobile app, it’s located at the bottom of the A/C screen.

Karaoke without microphone

  • New: The Karafun karaoke app now lets you sing freely without using a microphone.
    • After the OTA, download Karafun from the 「App Store」. Mic-less karaoke is enabled by default on first launch.
    • To toggle: inside Karafun tap the floating microphone bubble, then open XPENG Mixer to enable/disable mic-less karaoke.

AI Calendar

  • New: Sync events between the in-vehicle calendar and your phone’s calendar for the next 3 days. If an event contains an address, tap “Navigate to Address” in the vehicle calendar to start guidance.
    • Requires XPENG App V3.3 or later. Enable calendar sync in the app and grant calendar permission.
    • “Navigate to Address” currently supports XPENG built-in maps only (no third-party maps yet).
    • On iPhone it works with the built-in Calendar app (not, for example, with Outlook).

XCOMBO Language Updates

  • New: 20 new languages available for XCOMBO across the infotainment system and the XPENG App (original: British English).
    • XCOMBO lets users chain basic functions into tailored “combos” that run automatically when conditions are met. Example: child-lock combo while driving—when shifting to D, the system auto-locks windows and the rear child locks.
    • Remote control: start combos from the XPENG App with no waiting.
    • Browse recommended combos, add/manage them, and run with one tap via the app or the infotainment. Combo editing is app-only.
    • Tip: upgrade the XPENG App to 3.3.0+ to try multilingual XCOMBO.
    • Languages: Simplified Chinese, US English, French, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, British English, German, Italian, Traditional Chinese (HK), Arabic, Hebrew, Australian English, New Zealand English, Irish English, Russian, Bahasa Indonesian (21 total).

Mobile App (Phone–Vehicle Connection)

  • Improvement: Run-time settings: Configure run time for A/C, Max Heat, Max Cool and Refresh. Max duration: 60 minutes.

A/C

  • Improvement: Temperature range: min lowered from 18℃ to 16℃ (now 16–32℃) for better cooling on extremely hot days.
  • Improvement: UI: based on outlet temperature, 3D airflow animation for the rear vents shows color (blue/white/red).
  • Improvement: Better temperature control and steadier air valves for higher comfort.
  • Improvement: Optimized defogging in AUTO mode for clearer visibility in extreme weather.
  • Improvement: Reduced fan noise at low temperatures; fan control strategy optimized between −10℃ and 20℃.

Preferred Bluetooth Device

  • New: After login, set phones as 【Preferred device】 in the infotainment. They will auto-connect with priority each time you unlock and enter the vehicle.

Seamless Playback

  • Improvement: Resume playback after startup: if audio was playing before shutdown, it resumes when the vehicle powers on. After boot or an infotainment reset, you can tap 「Music」 to continue— supports online apps (Spotify, TuneIn, Amazon Music), Bluetooth audio and radio.

Radio Info

  • Fix: No more missing FM/DAB covers or titles. On first launch after the OTA, enable 「Enhanced radio experience」.
  • The updated radio experience is delivered in partnership with Radioplayer.org.

More Media Options

  • New: Local media apps: play music and video from a USB flash drive.
    • Includes video support such as MP4 (with Dolby Atmos audio tracks) and MKV.
    • Includes music support such as MP3 and FLAC.

Custom Lock/Unlock Sounds

Own Sound Files for Lock Sounds

  • New: Set custom lock/unlock sounds. Import audio files from USB to the infotainment for a more personal touch.
    • Access path: 「Vehicle Settings」 – 「Windows & Doors」 – 「Lock/Unlock Sound Settings」
    • WAV format supported.

Streaming Rear-View Mirror Display (G9 & G6 MY25)

  • Improvement: When the tailgate is opened, the streaming mirror automatically switches off the video feed and reverts to the standard reflective surface.
  • Scenario: If the streaming mirror is on (manually or via voice), it changes to the reflective surface when the tailgate opens. After closing, the video feed resumes.

Emergency Release of Charging Connector

  • Improvement: The button for Emergency Release of the charging connector is easier to find under 「Vehicle Settings」 – 「Charging」 – 「Charging」 – 「Emergency Release of Charging Connector」.

XPENG Voice Assistant

  • Improvement: Voice control covers more functions, including airflow level, Pet Mode toggle, Lightsaber Mode (where available), ambient light color, and enabling/disabling Bluetooth for passenger/rear seats (where available).
  • New: Wake-word enhancement. With permission to use your voice profile, say the wake word five times to train a personal model for better recognition accuracy.
  • Tips:
    • For best results, keep doors/windows/tailgate closed during training; disable media/Bluetooth calls; ensure a quiet environment.
    • Enable wake-word enhancement on the Voice Assistant page (available only after a successful recording).
    • After recording, tap the Wake-word User entry to manage it.

Wiper Settings

  • Improvement: Rear wiper can now run less frequently, in sync with the front wiper mode.
    • Front set to High → rear interval 9 s.
    • Front set to Low → rear interval 14 s.
    • Front set to Auto → rear follows the front.

Infotainment Language Updates

  • New: The in-vehicle UI now supports Brazilian Portuguese. Set under 「About」 – 「Language, Location & Time」 – 「Language」.

AI Charging

Smart Charging

  • New: Smarter global charging map
    • Easily find chargers nearby or along the route — now with detailed power levels and real-time availability per connector.
  • New: Personal charging preferences
    • Choose preferred operators, connector types and power levels. You can even filter to show stations that support XPENG App charging — and navigation retains your filters.
    • Many more operators are available to filter by, and filters persist in navigation.
  • New: Smarter charging suggestions for multiple routes
    • Get multiple charging route alternatives tailored to your preferences. Filter by operator and power to pick what suits you best.
  • New: Low-battery smart reminders
    • Your route now clearly marks where the battery could run low and provides timely, context-aware alerts exactly when you need them.
