XOS 5.8.7 Release Notes

Release Notes are based on the official XOS 5.8.7.8905 release note.

Assisted Driving

Adaptive Cruise Control & Lane Centering Control (ACC&LCC)

  • Enhancement: Optimizes ACC and LCC to reduce unwanted deceleration for a smoother and more fluid driving experience.
  • Enhancement: Improves the car-following performance of ACC and LCC, making it more seamless and natural.
  • Enhancement: Refines LCC to reduce micro-steering adjustments on straight roads for a more stable and comfortable drive.

Note: In XOS 5.8.7, XPENG has improved the vehicle’s self-calibration of lane positioning (centering calibration). After the update, the car may initially feel slightly offset within the lane, but this should correct itself automatically after some driving.

In earlier beta versions, this calibration typically required driving on a relatively straight motorway for some time. In this version, the calibration can also be performed on other roads, as long as they remain reasonably straight for a period.

There are two separate calibrations performed automatically by the vehicle:

  • ADAS camera calibration: Performed automatically about once per month and does not require LCC to be active.
  • Centering calibration: Takes place continuously while driving with LCC and adjusts the vehicle’s position within the lane over time.

If the car feels poorly positioned in the lane shortly after the update, it is typically this centering calibration that has not yet been fully completed.

Feedback has been sent to XPENG’s ADAS team requesting a way to see when the latest calibration was performed, for example in the vehicle’s “About” menu, as well as an option to manually reset the calibration so a new one can be carried out.

Activation of Auto Lane Change (ALC) — for North Africa only

  • New: With LCC active and vehicle speed between 15-150 km/h, activating the turn signal will allow ALC to assist the driver in changing lanes. (For applicable speed limits, please refer to local laws and regulations.)
  • Steps:
    • 1. Enabling/Disabling the feature: Use the touchscreen and go to 「Driver Assistance」「Driving」 to enable or disable Auto Lane Change.
    • 2. Activating ALC:
      • Check the surrounding traffic to make sure it is safe to change lanes.
      • Activate the turn signal stalk in the desired direction.
      • If lane change conditions are met, ALC will assist with the maneuver. If conditions are not met, a prompt will be shown on the SR interface.
    • 3. Canceling an ALC maneuver: Once ALC is active, you can cancel the maneuver by turning the steering wheel, pressing the brake pedal, or pushing the turn signal stalk in the opposite direction.
    • Note: Auto Lane Change (ALC) is an assisted driving function only and cannot handle all traffic, weather, or road conditions. While using it, you must keep your hands on the steering wheel, observe the road, and be prepared to take over the car at any time.

Smart Cabin
